Thigh Lift

A thigh lift, also known as thighplasty, is a cosmetic procedure which achieves the tightening of the thighs

What is thigh lift treatment?

A thigh lift, also known as thighplasty, is a cosmetic procedure which achieves the tightening of the thighs and improving their appearance. It addresses the excess skin on the thighs which can result from pregnancy, weight loss, or simply ageing. The treatment is able to contour and lift the thighs so that they look better in proportion with the rest of the body. A thigh lift can sometimes be used alongside liposuction for best results.

Am I a good candidate for thigh lift?

Typically, good candidates for a thigh lift are those with excess soft tissue in the outer or inner thigh region, whose weight is generally stable, and who have realistic goals in terms of what the procedure is able to achieve.

During the consultation, Mr Chummun will take a full medical history and assess if you are suitable for this type of surgery. He will discuss the type of surgery that is most appropriate for you and the risks that are involved.

During the surgery

The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic. For an inner thigh lift, incisions are made from the groin downwards, extending around the back of the thigh. Alternative inner thigh lift techniques involve the removal of excess skin via an incision along the inseam from the groin extending towards the knee, or a minimal incision inner thigh lift, which uses an incision in the groin area.
Liposuction can also be used to improve the contour of the thighs.

These techniques use deep sutures inside underlying tissues which support new contours. Sutures and  skin adhesive is then used to close the incisions. Results such as tighter contouring can be appreciated almost immediately following a thigh lift

Recovery from thigh lift

Following the procedure, bandages and dressings are applied to the areas where incisions have been made. Drains placed under the skin can be used temporarily in order to drain excess blood or fluid which can collect. You will need to wear your support garment to help with the recovery.

Before you return home the following day, you will be given instructions which cover how to care for the surgical sites and medications which can assist healing. It is important to follow these instructions in order for recovery to be successful.

Bruising and swelling will normally disappear entirely within a month. You may require taking 2 weeks following the surgery to fully recover from a thigh lift.
